DEP Fabrications

DEP Fabrications Windscreens
Many cruiser riders have windscreens fitted and due to the nature of the market in the United kingdom it may be hard or impossible to find exactly what you are looking for, especially if your old screen gets damaged or broken, perhaps you are not happy with the look of your screen or want to get a tinted one, I have found a company in Hitchin, Hertfordshire that can not only repair or modify your existing screen, they can also manufacture a custom made replacement. When I bought my screen from National Cycle I ordered the same size as I used to have on my Yamaha Silverado which was 23 inches, the problem was that the headlight on the Yamaha was mounted a lot lower than than the Honda VTX headlight so although both screen were the same size I couldn’t see over the top on the Honda, DEP removed part of the top so I now have a custom screen which is unique to my bike and build to fit. its cheeper to keep the fixing brackets than it is to order a new complete screen

When things go wrong
When things go wrong many bikers have the natural talent of getting out the toolbox and repairing the problem or broken part, sadly its not that simple and your repair could result in your warranty being invalidated, if you have an import bike and you have a problem you should contact your importer first, often they will give you the option of going to a local dealer and sending the bill on to them so you can claim your money back, if anything goes wrong with my bike it goes into a genuine Honda Dealer for repairs, unlike many general repair shops Honda technicians have to tools and technical information to hand, many jobs or repairs have manufacturers estimated times for repairs to be carried out so you can see what its going to cost before booking the repair, many independent workshops may appear cheeper but in the end it can cost you more, have a look at the links page for Honda VTX friendly dealers including Norton Way Honda.

Another Bright Idea

When it comes round to replacing your headlight bulb have a look at the new high efficiency bulbs, I fitted a Halfords Super brilliance Blue bulb which gives out a whiter and brighter light, it states on the box that it will put out 50% more light and makes a big difference to night riding and being seen during the day, the bulbs cost twice as much as a standard H4 bulb but in my opinion they are worth every penny. I replaced mine before my old bulb went and am glad I did, I can now keep my old one as a spare.
